Hy-Pro Cal-Mag ensures an optimal balance and optimal proportions of calcium, magnesium and iron. These substances are essential in all growth phases of a plant. Cal-Mag is very good for annuals that produce a lot of flowers and/or fruits. The high calcium and magnesium content in our formula improves cell wall strength and chlorophyll production.

The main goal when we grow plants, whether in a garden or a hydroponic system, is to help them thrive and generate high yields. All living things need nourishment, and plants are no exception. They need macronutrients such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and potassium to survive. But they also need other minerals, called secondary macronutrients and micronutrients, to stay healthy, grow well and provide better yields. Calcium and magnesium are two of the most important secondary macronutrients that are essential for healthy plants. Used in relatively large quantities by plants and therefore important to top up your plants regularly. These minerals, along with the micronutrients, also contribute to the ionic balance of the plant. Hy-pro Cal/mag is great for improving soil plant health and it is an essential ingredient for controlling hydroponics.

Hy-Pro Cal-Mag is also very important if you live in a soft water area. Soft water contains little to no calcium and/or magnesium.

Magnesium forms the core of the chlorophyll molecule and is therefore essential for photosynthesis. It is an indispensable element for plant development. Magnesium also promotes the absorption and transport of phosphorus and it contributes to the storage of sugars in the plant. Magnesium performs the function of an enzyme activator and in fact activates more enzymes than any other nutrient. Magnesium is also used by plants for the metabolism of carbohydrates and for the stabilization of the cell membrane. Magnesium deficiencies result in weak stems, loss of greenness in the oldest leaves and the appearance of yellow and brown spots, although the leaf veins remain green.

Calcium is an essential element required for plant growth and development under both non-stressed and stressful conditions. It fulfills a double function: it is not only an important factor for the stability of the cell wall and membrane, but also serves as a second messenger in many developmental and physiological processes, including the response of plants to biotic stress. Calcium adheres to the walls of plant tissues, stabilizes the cell wall and promotes cell wall formation. Calcium is also involved in cell growth and development. It neutralizes toxins in plants and contributes to seed formation. A calcium deficiency causes yellow and brown spots on the leaves. It also slows down plant growth in general.

Hy-Pro Cal-Mag also contains a proprietary blend of trace minerals to help maximize the yield of fruiting and flowering plant varieties. Iron, for example, acts as a catalyst for essential reactions within the plant, especially with regard to metabolism. It must be the correct form of chelated iron. And it has to be in the right proportion to the other nutrients in your nutrient reservoir.

HY-PRO Cal-Mag is can be used with all substrate types and all cultivation methods.

Instructions for use

Shake the bottle well before using it. If you are not using the substrate for the 1st time, or if you are using osmosis / demi water, or if you live in an area with soft water, add 5 ml per liter of Cal-Mag before adding the other nutrients to the water. In all other cases add 2.5 ml per liter of water.
